The heritage-laden Banqueting Hall at the Guildhall is licensed for weddings and offers a historic backdrop which cannot be matched! The wedding ceremonies take place before the great west window in the Banqueting Hall where, for hundreds of years, people have celebrated their most important days. Wedding parties who choose the Guildhall for their special day get exclusive use of this medieval building, complete with the cells where the Pilgrim Fathers were held.

Entering through Beadmans Lane and progressing through the historic chapel area a majestic staircase leads you upstairs to the magnificent Banqueting Hall. This grand room has a marvelous acoustic with its soaring vaulted ceiling, but maintains an intimate atmosphere. The wedding couple can have their own choice of recorded music played. There is space for live musicians, including a gallery where music can drift down on guests from on high, adding to the atmosphere of the day.

If you'd like a smaller space for your ceremony we can also offer the Council Chamber.  To sign your important document, the registry book, in the back drop of this Georgian styled room where many have signed the papers of the town is a truly emotive experience.

The Guildhall is available for weekday and weekend weddings and can accommodate 100 guests in the Banqueting Hall and 30 in the smaller Council Chamber room. After the ceremony guests can enjoy a drinks reception and perhaps a slice of wedding cake. Your photographs can be posed anywhere in the building, including the cells, to capture the romance of the building.

Your booking offers you the Guildhall for exclusive use for an hour before the ceremony and an hour afterwards; if you wish to consider a drinks reception please discuss further when making your enquiry.

The Guildhall provides a beautiful backdrop for your wedding ceremony and we welcome enquiries as to how we may help your dreams for your day come true.  Being such an historical building with a wealth of history and stories and also the home of the towns museum, with objects from the collections on display, this really is a unique setting.

When considering a wedding ceremony one of the first things you decide upon is a venue. It does not matter whether you live in the county where you wish for the ceremony to take place but once your venue is selected you will also need to provisionally book the Registration Officers. In Lincolnshire the Registrars can be booked up to two years in advance and are able to guide you through the formalities.

If you would like to visit us for an informal chat and to view the Guildhall in consideration as a venue for your special day please do contact us.
